Murray Soccer Club offers an experience that few if any other clubs in Salt Lake County can offer. We are a tight knit community club with a real family feel.

If you play for Murray Soccer Club you should come out of the experience better off in the following four areas:

Competence - You will be better at soccer

Confidence - You will feel better about yourself and your ability in soccer.

Character - You will develop valuable life skills

Connections - You will make friends and be exposed to positive role models.

If you would like to find out more about how we achieve these outcomes click here to read about our age based programs.

WILL EVERY PLAYER AT TRYOUTS MAKE A TEAM?

We do our best to make sure every player is placed in the right spot for them.

If we have a team at the right level and a quality coach to work with the player we will offer them a spot.

If a player try's out  but we do not have space or a team for them we will do our best to help & make recommendations to partner clubs in the UYSA network.

WHAT DO I BRING TO TRYOUTS?

All players are required to bring the following:

- Cleats.
- Shin Guards.
- Water.
- Winter clothing incase of a change to the weather.
- Prior to tryout, on the first day, you will be provided with a tryout jersey that will have a number assigned to it. It is important to note that you will need to wear the same jersey on the second day of the tryout as well. The coaches will be conducting evaluations throughout the tryout and will be using the tryout jersey number as your identifier. So, make sure to take care of your jersey and wear it on both days to ensure that you can be easily identified by the coaches. Good luck with your tryout!.

Arrive 30 minutes before your try out and sign in at the welcome desk.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL OF MY TRYOUT SESSIONS?

Yes. Players must attend both days of tryouts, as this will give the coach a better opportunity to make a comprehensive assessment..

If for any reason a player can not make tryouts  1st day or 2rd day, please get in contact with Murray SC Technical Director mauricio@murraysoccer.com to discuss and make alternative arrangements.

WHAT AGE GROUP DO I TRY OUT FOR?

The player should primarily try out for the age group in which they were born.

Decisions on players playing up is made on a case by case basis and should be discussed and signed off on by the clubs Technical Director.

CAN I PLAY FOR AN OLDER TEAM?

According to Utah Youth Soccer bylaws yes players can play up.

There are reasons for and against playing up in soccer and it is important that every case is treated individually.

If you want to play up or even double roster with a older age group the move will need to be approved by the club Technical Director .

WHEN DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO THE TEAM?

Players need to communicate to the coach their intention to accept or reject the club offer ASAP, players have at least  48 hours to consider the offer but they can communicate their intentions sooner if their wish.  This ensures we can finalize teams efficiently and promptly  communicate  to all tryout participants the results,   in the event a player declines and we offer the position to a different player.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

After the player verbally commits to the team, the player and parents must be ready to register at the state level through UYSA or the roster spot is not guaranteed

The player will receive a team code from their coach and will follow this link  instructions https://uysamurraysoccerclub.affinitysoccer.com

WHAT ARE THE COSTS? DO I PAY IT ALL UPFRONT?

When does the season start ?

Comp soccer is a year round activity. Once a player accepts there spot on a team the player will register and begin to train at club events and with their team in June through to May. Soccer in Utah has 4 seasons. The summer season consists of training and tournaments. Typically Murray Soccer Club teams enter 1-2 tournaments in July and/or August. The first outdoor league season starts at the end of August/early September and runs through till the end of October.  During the winter teams move indoor to train and play. Murray Soccer Club teams typically train twice per week and play indoor/futsal in the winter. Finally the fall outdoor league starts the 3rd week of March and runs through till the end of May and tryouts.

While there is a lot going on throughout the year players are given time off, post tryouts, after tournaments, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break for example.

Tournaments?

Tournaments participations varies according to the age group and the level of competition of each team. Younger teams usually travel less and do less tournaments , as the players get older and the level of competition increase the number of tournaments and distances may also increase. All Murray  teams  participate in a club mandatory tournament (MAXCUP), during the 1st or 2nd week in August. In addition to Maxcup teams usually play in another local tournament during the summer.  During the winter months teams traditionally play in an Futsal or indoor league, and a Southern Utah tournament. Due to the local weather, the nearest locations are Saint George or Mesquite, Nevada.  If the team it's in the Premier division expect to travel to  out of state tournaments ( TBD by the level of play and team  goals and expectations set by the coaching staff, please double check with each coach). note: travel tournament usually requires 3 night accommodations per tournament.

I am new to Soccer, I don't know what to do?

Don't worry, Each team has experience coaches and team managers to help you navigate through . You may have questions about uniforms, schedules, payment options, practices, etc. We have it cover, the coach and team manager will hold a team orientation meeting, the week after team formation.
